The Esoteric Master Sound Discrete DAC G2 is a fully in-house designed, FPGA-based, multi-level ΔΣ (delta-sigma) D/A converter built with meticulously selected discrete components. This unique architecture's ultimate goal is to effortlessly reproduce music's true dynamics and power, surpassing the limitations of conventional DAC IC chips. Its large-scale circuit design comprises 16 elements per channel, with all key components configured in complete independence.
In the XE model, the new G2 DAC features a completely redesigned resistor network—the first stage of the analog domain, achieving even purer signal processing. This breathtakingly powerful, dynamic, and musical architecture delivers an uncompromised, pure listening experience.

In a DAC, the resistor network is a critical circuit that converts the digital signal generated by the FPGA into an analog signal through precision resistor elements.
For the new G2 version of the DAC, Esoteric applied development achievements from our flagship network streamer, the Grandioso N1. This approach simplified and optimized the circuit responsible for switching the resistor elements on and off. In addition, capacitors placed in close proximity to the resistor network improve current supply stability, enabling the generation of purer analog signals with significantly reduced noise.

The G2 DAC supports the latest formats, including native DSD 22.5 MHz playback. Independent FPGA-based digital processing algorithms, optimized separately for DSD and PCM formats, enable D/A conversion that maximizes the advantages of each format.

Critical resistor elements within the DAC circuit employ high-precision MELF resistors to enhance computational accuracy. Additionally, the circuit’s carefully selected discrete components contribute to sound reproduction characterized by vivid live presence, superb dynamics, and an organic, natural texture.

The clock circuit, which is critical for high-quality digital playback, now features Esoteric's proprietary "Master Sound Discrete Clock for Digital Player." With its unique circuit design and carefully selected discrete components, the clock circuit achieves high sound quality, reflecting Esoteric's philosophy down to the finest detail— an approach that cannot be realized with generic clock modules.

The N-05XE features the fourth-generation "Esoteric Network Engine G4," which incorporates an SFP port for optical network connectivity. Equipped with large-capacity RAM and a powerful CPU, it delivers advanced processing performance. The network power supply section employs a large linear power supply that is completely separated from the audio power supply. Each network component is powered directly via its own independent power line, separated from the transformer windings. By eliminating noise-generating switching elements, the N-05XE achieves a smooth, vinyl-like sound with rich detail and natural musical flow.

The Esoteric Network Engine G4 is equipped with a built-in network switch function and has two network interfaces: an Ethernet RJ45 connector and an SFP port.
By connecting the N-05XE to an external network switch using an SFP module and fiber-optic cable, the signal can be isolated from network-borne noise, resulting in unparalleled playback purity. For maximum flexibility, both the RJ45 and SFP ports can be used simultaneously, tailoring the setup to your preferences and requirements.

The N-05XE is equipped with USB ports (USB-A ×1, USB-C ×1) and can function as a music server / NAS by connecting up to two USB storage devices, such as flash drives or HDD/SSD units.

The Esoteric Sound Stream app, available for both Apple iOS and Android devices, is designed to combine exceptional sound quality with effortless usability. Tailored for smartphones and tablets, this innovative app allows users to easily browse, manage, and customize their music playback experience with just a few taps.
With its intuitive interface, creating and managing playlists becomes seamless. All screens are thoughtfully designed for straightforward navigation, ensuring that music libraries and playlists are easily accessible to users of any experience level. At the same time, the app offers a suite of advanced features to satisfy even the most seasoned audiophiles.

The preamplifier forms the core of the system and defines the essence of its sound. The Grandioso's high fidelity and musical expression embody Esoteric's philosophy and technology. These qualities have been passed down to the N-05XE, which inherits its lineage. The acclaimed dual mono, dual balanced configuration delivers dynamic yet delicate sound, capturing the performer's sensibility.

The N-05XE uses an attenuator circuit with a high-fidelity, dual-mono, dual-balanced configuration. This configuration comprises eight independent circuits that separately handle left and right channels, as well as positive and negative signal paths. This configuration achieves clear sound quality with excellent channel separation and phase accuracy. In the XE model, the attenuator's power supply section is completely independent from the other power circuits, which further refines the purity of reproduction.

Providing ultra-smooth analog operating feel, the N-05XE’s volume control utilizes the same Ball-Bearing support mechanism used in Esoteric’s flagship Grandioso line. The volume knob itself is precision-machined from solid aluminum, ensuring exceptional tactile quality and mechanical precision.

The N-05XE’s Esoteric-HCLD (High Current Line Driver) circuit was developed in pursuit of ultimate current transmission capacity and speed, two factors that are critical to achieving uncompromised analog output performance. The buffer’s high-speed element features an exceptional slew rate, or response speed, of 2,000 V/μs, enabling the reproduction of musical dynamics with breathtaking realism.

The N-05XE features Esoteric's "ES-Link Analog" input/output transmission method. This method leverages the high performance of the HCLD buffer circuit, which is renowned for its powerful current supply capability. ES-Link Analog minimizes the influence of signal path impedance, enabling pure, powerful signal transmission and playback brimming with realism, as if you were directly monitoring from an analog console in a recording studio.
In the XE model, a newly added ES-Link Analog input allows direct connection to compatible Esoteric components such as the K-05XD, an integrated Super Audio CD player with DAC functionality and the E-02, a dedicated high-performance phono preamplifier.

Experience high-end headphone listening in your own space. The N-05XE features a newly developed dual-mono, parallel single-ended headphone amplifier. Esoteric’s accumulated expertise in analog amplifier design is brought together in this circuit, delivering exceptional sound quality for serious headphone listening.

The circuit is engineered to eliminate differences in sound quality between speaker and headphone playback. This is achieved by employing the HCLD line-stage preamplifier renowned for its high current output, as the headphone amplifier itself. The dual-mono architecture incorporates independent left and right power supply circuits.

During headphone operation, the two amplifier circuits switch to parallel single-ended operation, resulting in sound with even greater openness than previous models. The amplifier is equipped with two output formats: a 4-Pin XLR and a ¼ (6.3mm) stereo phone headphone output. With a high output power of 1,200 mW per channel (32 Ω load), it drives high-end headphones with ample authority, control, and musical vitality, delivering uncompromising performance and heightened musical expressiveness.

The N-05XE is a highly versatile high-end component that has been meticulously finished without any compromise, providing top-tier audio performance, across a wide range of applications. When switched to fixed line level output, the N-05XD can be connected to an external preamp for operation as a standalone digital source or DAC. It also has a convenient pass through output for use as a front-channel speaker preamp for an AV receiver. The XE model can additionally function as a DAC input, allowing direct connection of smartphones and DAPs.

The N-05XE is equipped with Esoteric’s proprietary ES-Link digital input, enabling direct connection to Esoteric Super Audio CD transport models via a single XLR cable.

The N-05XE features a built-in Bluetooth® receiver supporting high-quality audio codecs, including LDAC, LHDC, Qualcomm® aptX™ HD audio, Qualcomm® aptX™ audio, AAC and SBC. This enables high-fidelity wireless playback from smartphones and other compatible devices. The N-05XE also supports multipoint connectivity, allowing simultaneous connection to multiple devices for seamless switching.

The N-05XE is equipped with a high-precision 10 MHz master clock input. When used in combination with the external G-05 master clock generator, it enables further enhancement of overall sound quality.

The N-05XE features a semi-floating top panel that contributes to an open and spacious sound. The bottom chassis incorporates precision laser-cut slits around the power transformer mount for effective resonance control. Unwanted vibrations are efficiently dissipated externally through Esoteric’s patented Pinpoint isolation feet (patent nos. JP 4075477, JP 3778108, and JP 7413773).

The RC-1339 remote controller features an ergonomically designed aluminum body that fits naturally in the hand, with buttons positioned on both sides of the unit for intuitive and effortless operation from the comfort of the listening position.
In addition to providing straightforward control of preamplifier functions and network playback, this remote controller can also be used to operate compatible Esoteric Super Audio CD players and transports.
