Designing VPI's Next Generation Direct Drive Motor Technology

 

Experience the award-winning direct drive sound in a traditional, full-sized turntable design. The HW-40 Black features a high-torque three-phase BLDC motor, with each phase individually powered by its own internal Class D amplifier. Combining cutting-edge technology with classic design, the HW-40 is a high-mass turntable engineered for ultimate stability and performance.

The HW-40 Black offers the flexibility to be paired with either a VPI Unipivot or Gimbal tonearm, allowing users to tailor their setup for their preferred listening experience.

  • Integrated three phase BLDC Motor

  • Optimized motor housing with isolation

  • Stainless steel shaft spinning in an inverted phosphor bronze bushing

  • Precision-machined aluminum and dampened top-plate 

  • Highly damped, acrylic sides and aluminum combined frame

  • Machined aluminum feet with vibration-damping polymer core
